Within a mailbox all inbound and outbound EDI messages are stored. Furthermore several settings can be configured via the eXite® Online Services section "Physical Mailbox".

Physical Mailbox

The actual ID of a physical mailbox is used for internal (administrative) purposes only. Generally there is no limitation of characters used for the ID of a physical mailbox. However specific naming conventions have been assigned within eXite®.

The mailbox ID usually starts with the character '$' followed by two characters indicating the country code of the eXite® users residence. The following three characters are used to indicate the (company) name of the eXite® subscriber.

eXite® subscribers can operate more than one physical mailbox, therefore the ID is completed by two numeric digits. They should be counted up according to the number of mailboxes used by the eXite® subscriber.

Example:

Physical Mailbox ID: $ATXYZ01

Explanation:

AT......Austria

XYZ....Company XYZ (owner of the mailbox)

01......First physical mailbox of Company XYZ, there could be more (02, 03,etc.)

In addition to the internal ID of a physical mailbox, so called logical mailboxes (alias) can be defined. A logical mailbox have to be related to a specific physical mailbox and is used to additionally separate a physical mailbox. These logical mailboxes are used to actually address an eXite® subscriber. In most of the cases the GS1 Global Location Number (GLN) is used for this purposes.
