EDIFACT is an EDI standard developed by the UN and standardized as ISO 9735. It defines a syntax for structuring business messages. eXite® extracts routing information from the EDIFACT header part.

Transmission

When transmitting EDIFACT messages via eXite® routing information is parsed from the envelope part of each interchange (UNA, UNB, UNZ).

Additionally this header part is also validated. This allows the recipient to rely on receiving valid files from every sender. No other content of the messages is read during the transmission.

It is also possible to transmit multiple interchanges in one transmission by concatenating them to a single file.

Example

The following is an example EDIFACT header which would encapsulate a messages sent from SENDERGLN to RECIPIENTGLN.
