A differentiation must be made between accounting and pricing. Accounting defines what type of service, action or transaction the user will be charged for. Every accounting item – unit of service, transaction etc. – has a price tag. Only the multiplication of the number of every accounting item and the price for this particular item results in a price. All accounting items are priced on a monthly basis. The total of all priced monthly accounting items is the monthly service charge, which is presented with the monthly bill.
The eXite® Online Services can be used to query the monthly bill and the monthly accounting details.
In order to avoid arguments between the involved EDI parties about who has to pay for which message type or service, the eXite® user committee decided that the sender has to pay the data transfer all the way from his server to the eXite® servers, and the recipient has to pay the data transfer from eXite® to the recipients server.
In order to have a neutral charging value which is valid in every country, an artificial currency, the “eXite® Unit” has been created. Every eXite® transaction is priced in the eXite® Units or fractions thereof. The value (exchange rate) of one eXite® unit is expressed in every country in its local currency.
EDI transactions that are addressed to a recipient, who is using another EDI system, as well as inbound transactions from none eXite® EDI platforms, are subject to roaming surcharge.
Sliding scale (high volume reductions) accounting applies for nearly all types of accounting items.
The core accounting item are the interchanges. An interchange is every Business Document Header that is passing through eXite®. At UN/EDIFACT and EANCOM this is the UNB segment, at XML formatted documents this is the <sh:BusinessDocumentHeader> tag.
For every EDI document that is larger than 1.000 characters, all additional (> 1.000) characters are accounted and priced separately. For large EDI documents sliding scale (high volume) rules will apply.
Roaming charges follow the same accounting rules (interchanges and data volume).
Every attempt to collect data from an empty mailbox is accounted as one interchange.
For complex connectivity options such as leased line connections, VPN or AS/2 etc. additional one time set-up and test charges and monthly connectivity charges apply.
The registration of a new eXite® user is free of charge. One-time-charges only exist for implementing and testing complex connectivity, such as leased lines, VPNs or AS/2 connectivity.
For every user-ID, mailbox-ID, and complex connectivity fixed monthly fees will apply. For details please see the eXite® table of charges.
The actual usage of eXite® is based on volume charges, such as number of interchanges, data volume transferred, number of queries, number of active forward events, number of notifications etc.
For most of the volume based charges sliding scale pricing applies. For more details please see the eXite® table of charges or contact the EDITEL sales department (sales@editel.at)
